Helen Keller
PARAGRAPH
Helen Keller is one of the most inspiring figures in human history. Born on June 27, 1880, in Alabama, USA, she lost her sight and hearing due to a severe illness when she was only nineteen months old. As a result, she grew up in a world of complete darkness and silence, unable to speak or communicate with the outside world.
Her life changed completely in 1887 when a brilliant teacher named Anne Sullivan came to guide her. With immense patience, Anne taught Helen to understand words by spelling them out on her palm while touching objects. The breakthrough came when Anne poured water over Helen's hand and spelled "W-A-T-E-R." For the first time, Helen connected the word with the physical feeling, unlocking a whole new world of learning.
Through sheer determination and hard work, Helen learned to read Braille, write, and even speak. She went on to become the first deaf-blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree, graduating from Radcliffe College. Helen spent the rest of her life working as a world-famous author, political activist, and lecturer. She traveled to dozens of countries, fighting for the rights of people with disabilities, women, and workers. Helen Keller's life teaches us that no obstacle is too big to overcome if we have courage, willpower, and the right guidance.
