Struggle Begets Sweet Reward

  Siam was a Class 8 student from a small village. Unlike his classmates, Siam's life was not easy. His father was a simple day laborer who struggled to afford basic family needs, let alone expensive guidebooks or private coaching for Siam. However, Siam possessed something priceless—an unbreakable willpower and a deep desire to learn.

While other boys spent their free time playing games or browsing social media after school, Siam had a different routine. He would rush home, help his mother with chores, and then sit down with his old, secondhand textbooks. Since he couldn't afford a tutor, he had to struggle with difficult math problems and complex English grammar rules all by himself. Many nights, he studied under the dim light of a kerosene lamp, fighting sleep and exhaustion.

His classmates often mocked his simple clothes and old books. Sometimes, Siam felt disheartened, but he always remembered his mother’s words: "Hard work never goes in vain, son. Struggle always begets a sweet reward." Those words became his fuel. He doubled his efforts as the final board examinations approached, practicing every single day until he mastered his syllabus.

Finally, the exam results were published. The school corridor was packed with anxious students and parents. When the headmaster announced the results, everyone was shocked. Siam had not only topped the school but had also secured the highest marks in the entire district.

Tears of joy rolled down his father’s tired face, and his mother hugged him tightly. The very classmates who used to laugh at him came forward to congratulate him. Siam smiled through his tears. He realized that the long, sleepless nights and endless struggles had finally paid off.
